The Prevent training materials available on this site provide a wide range of guidance suitable for different roles. There are seven main training components which focus on the following areas:

  1. Introducing the Prevent duty
  2. Implications for governing bodies and senior leaders
  3. Prevent, legislation and legal duties
  4. Upholding the principles of academic freedom
  5. Safeguarding, pastoral care and student support
  6. Risk assessment and action planning
  7. Effective ICT policies

The first module, which provides an introduction to Prevent, is also available as an eLearning module.

Compliance with Prevent requires both appropriate policies and procedures to be in place to meet the expectations of the Prevent guidance and that these procedures are properly followed and applied. Commissioned by the Department of Education and created by Advance HE, this website has a collection of talking head videos exploring the experiences of practitioners in implementing the Prevent duty. These videos are applicable to a range of HE roles, covering themes such as unconscious bias in the implementation of Prevent and Prevent as a welfare issue.
